We provide people with disabilities, family members, businesses, professionals and the general public with information about resources, issues, rights, and referrals to other disABILITY service agencies.
People with disabilities are assisted in the development of skills and knowledge that encourage independence. We provide individual instruction and workshops. Trainings are selected by the consumer and may include practical training in daily living skills, self-advocacy, self-empowerment, vocation, household management, personal assistant management, etc. Examples of our workshops include Survivor! and the ABCs of the ADA.
This service assists people with disabilities to become self-advocates by actively participating in the process to support one's rights, or in obtaining services needed for independence.
This service assists individuals to create reforms at the local, state, and national levels.
Our agency advocates for changes in the system that will increase equality and inclusion for the disABILITY community.
Peer support services are offered to people with disabilities by people with disabilities. Peers provide information, share their personal experience, listen, and help others to solve problems via telephone, E-mail, support groups, recreational activities and employment support. Our Active and Able group gathers for social support and recreational activities.
We assist individuals with disabilities to obtain and maintain residence in the community rather than nursing homes or other institutions.
Through a contract with TN Rehabilitation Services, we provide vocational assessments, employment, job coaching and support. We are a Ticket to Work provider and Benefits to Work project.
We can provide limited assistance with employment goals for individuals not receiving rehabilitation services.
