The staff had their pictures taken at the Ashley Nicole Dream Playground. They can be found more frequently at the disABILITY Resource Center.
Because of my relationships with friends and family members with disabilities,
I am very committed to the independent living movement philosophy and practice.
My responsibilities include the daily administration, management, direction and
operation of the disABILITY Resource Center programs, events, services, facilities,
and personnel. I enjoy meeting every person who comes to the DRC and watching
their progress. In addition, I represent the agency at local, state, and federal
levels. Just for fun, I love completing the yearly federal report!

As an Independent Living Specialist, I assist people with disabilities and their
families as they face day to day challenges. Being a person with a disability
provides me with the understanding of the many aspects of each individual need and
knowledge that people with disabilities are capable of reaching their hopes and dreams.
What an honor it is to be a part of someone's life as I watch them take each step as
they find their pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

consumers find ways to help themselves meet their goals. I also facilitate workshops
and group support meetings in order to help keep our consumers encouraged and on their
paths to healthy, productive and independent lives. My job is very rewarding as I get
to use my personal experience and skills to assist others.

My job is unique in that I provide resources and information to callers.
I really enjoy my job because it allows me to do what I have wanted to
do since college. Having lived with a disability all my life and having
to search for resources to assist me, I feel that my unique perspective
on the world is a benefit. I also feel like advocacy is an important
part of my work in addition to providing resources to our callers.
